YABT in Numbers

  • More than 17,000 young people trained in 29 countries across the Americas region, in topics such as: Agribusiness, Biotechnology, Tourism, SMEs, among others. The Business Labs will be part of the official curricula in every high school in Panama.
  • Over 8,000 young people from the 34 OAS Member States provided their recommendations for the IV OAS Summit of the Americas in Mar del Plata, Argentina, in 2005.
  • Network of more than 100,000 dynamic, enterprising young entrepreneurs in 34 countries in the Americas region, leading to business, trade and investment opportunities. These young people represent the best that the Americas has to offer to build the competitiveness of business in the region as employees, partners, and entrepreneurs.
  • For the first time in the history of the OAS, young people opinions and recommendations were presented to the 34 OAS Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives at a Special Session of the OAS Permanent Council. YABT took the lead with other OAS departments in recruiting more than 300 young people to actively participate and be part of the decision making process within the OAS framework.
  • Organize over 50 international videoconferences with the World Bank Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) in the past five years, bringing together countries from the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
  • Conducted a mapping exercise in Guyana, reaching more than 640 youth organizations reaching even the most distant regions in the country. This project was part of an Inter-American Development (IDB) USD 10 million loan for youth development.
  • Currently, YABT has programs operating in 29 out of the 34 OAS Member States and joint programs under development in Africa and Asia.
  • More than 150 enthusiastic and energetic staff and volunteers throughout the countries in the Americas, including at the YABT headquarters in Washington D.C. and seven established offices across Latin America and the Caribbean such as Brazil, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay.
