Assistant Secretary General of the OAS dialogue with the youth of the Americas
The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) and the Organization of American States (OAS) conduct dialogues "Youth Participation in the OAS, held in Lima, Peru, June 4, 2010.
The activity was developed in the framework of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas), which is organized prior to the XL General Assembly of the OAS. Special guests of the hemisphere met with the finalists of the competition, students from local universities and representatives of institutions from Peru to motivate youth to get involved in political events that positively impact the development of the region.
The dialogue began with the participation of Ambassador Albert Ramdin, Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, who showed the strategy of the OAS to engage young people in the Americas and the Caribbean, and the importance of their contributions to the organization and national governments. Next, Valerie Lorena, Director of Leadership and YABT Political Affairs, presented the results of the Youth Forum of the Americas.

Event that takes place parallel to the Summit of the Americas every four years and allows the young leaders of the hemisphere linked in political processes in the region and propose solutions to the problems of their countries.
Juliana Bedoya, representative of the Youth Department of the OAS, presented the working approach of the OAS with regard to youth, highlighting the importance and the results have been achieved with the participation of youth at the Summit of the Americas.
Andrea Montilla, of the Secretary of the Summit of the Americas, made reference to the importance of the participation of social actors in the process of the Summit of the Americas and the tools that different groups have in order to be fully involved in these processes. The Virtual Community Summit created a youth group, the same group that presented at the Dialogue.
The young participants could share their vision of the role to be played by young people in the hemisphere with the panelists and gave alternative youth participation in social development programs promoted by the organization.
The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) is an international non-profit organization that works in cooperation with the Organization of American States (OAS), with the aim of promoting the development of young entrepreneurs through its programs and projects in the areas of Leadership, Training, Technology, Strategic Alliances and National Chapters.
