Submit Your Idea for Water Conservation
to "Eco-Challenge 2010"
WASHINGTON D.C. – Young people in Latin America and the Caribbean have the opportunity to address the problems caused by the effects of climate change. The TIC Americas Eco-Challenge seeks innovative approaches to water conservation and is a new category of the fourth edition of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas) initiated by PepsiCo and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT).
The Eco-Challenge has two components:
ECO-CHALLENGE 1: Creation of a concept for an educational video game about water conservation.
Create a concept of an educational video game focusing on the importance of the water conservation in a fun, entertaining way! Participating teams need to refer to the characters of the "Water Detectives" campaign, developed by PepsiCo and available at
PepsiCo and YABT will develop the winning concept and the video game will be distributed for free through the Pepsimundo portal. The winner will receive $ 5,000 in cash and their choice of an internship in a multinational company in the industry.
ECO-CHALLENGE 2: Developing a solution for access to safe water.
Propose an innovative, inexpensive, and efficient solution for access to safe water - for example, a mechanism or device to filter / purify water in communities without access to a source of drinking water.
The winner of this category will receive $ 5,000. The solution will be proposed to PepsiCo with honors and public recognition. The team will own the rights to implement the proposed solution to the water.
TIC Americas is an international business competition that goes beyond writing a business plan. It incorporates extensive follow-up, tutorials, prototype development and testing phases to assess and encourage commercial viability in the real market. Prizes include cash, opportunities for incubation, internships and promotion, and networking with international competitors and business and political representatives.
TIC Americas is an excellent opportunity for young entrepreneurs of the Americas to accelerate their integration into national and international markets.
The finals of the competition will be held in May 2010, in Lima, Peru where finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their business ideas within the framework of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Private Sector Forum of the Americas.
