Finals of International Businesses Competition "TIC Americas 2010" will be held in Lima, Peru
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) presented and launched the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas) November 17. The launching took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, where representatives from the public and private sectors and academia were present.
An international competition organized by YABT, TIC Americas acts as an accelerator for developing the innovative potential in entrepreneurial and scientific young people. The initiative provides participants with training, a chance to scale-up a business, innovation skills and networking opportunities with other young entrepreneurs. TIC Americas winners will also have the opportunity to participate in the Global TIC competition held in Asia.
According to interviews with a number of TIC Americas’ previous participants, TIC Americas has been an opportunity for boosting initiatives in starting up their own enterprises and opening up a door to the market.
"The Government of Peru, through its support to TIC Americas, demonstrated its commitment to the youth", said Ambassador Luzmila Zanabria, Vice Secretary for Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.
"TIC Americas offers young entrepreneurs dynamism, enthusiasm, energy and innovation needed for future" said Jorge Saggiante, director of the Department for Economic Development, Trade and Tourism of the Organization of American States (OAS). Mr. Saggiante also expressed his gratitude to the Peruvian Government for hosting the OAS General Assembly for the second time (the first was in 1997) and for its commitment in supporting meaningful programs such as TIC Americas.
Dr. Luis Gayoso Reusens, Business Development Manager of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, also expressed his gratitude to the Mayor of Lima, Luis Castañeda Lossio, and shared his commitment to the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima as a strategic shareholder in the development of the competition.
Mr. Roy Thomasson, the Chief Executive Officer of YABT, showed his appreciation to all institutions involved with this initiative, such as PepsiCo and its Eco-Challenge 2010, and invited other companies to join this initiative in supporting entrepreneurship in the Americas, and to enjoy the benefit of international visibility.
TIC Americas Finals will be held in June 2010, in Lima, Peru prior to the 40th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).
