Program Review and Planning: 2009 – 2010
Workshop with National YABTs

Young Americas Business Trust annual meeting:

National Chapter Coordinators of the Young Americas Business Trust gathered in the Annual Review and Planning Meeting at The Ambassador Hotel in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, prior to the Youth Forum of the Americas, April 15th and 16th.

Both activities mark an opportunity for the youth of the hemisphere to advance the common goals of the region. It is through the efforts of each National Chapter and Partner Organizations that the YABT has a well established presence in the OAS Member States.

The tools and plans that are developed in the Review and Planning Meeting are essential for building on the momentum generated by the Forum to create future opportunities for young people. "The true measure of the Youth Forum’s success will be what is done for and by the young people of our countries as we move forward from this event" stated Dr. Riyad Insanally, OAS Director in Trinidad and Tobago

The YABT credits its success throughout the Hemisphere to the excellent work and commitment that the National Chapters have displayed on the ground in their countries.

The sessions during the Planning and Review meeting were valuable in addressing the challenges that are faced by the organization. Considering that so much has been done with so little, the organization is optimistic about the possibilities and opportunities that will arise from increased financial support, greater media exposure, new innovative programs and a more coordinated effort.

One of the main objectives of this meeting was to create tangible, practical, youth-focused plans addressing the Summit Declaration of Commitment, and to also emphasise the importance of young entrepreneurs within the framework of public policy

The dialogues and discussion were focused on the opportunities for YABT National Chapters and Young People, Finding Finance, Science, Technology and Innovation. Additionally, National YABT Coordinators presented reports and plans for 2008 – 2010.

Samuel Hancock, Emerald Planet; Wanda Fisher, Skycue Marketing and Productions; Glynis Long, Treasurer, Board of Directors – YABT; Michel Bergeron, President – Interciencia; were speakers during this meeting.
