Scholarships for Training course "Support Systems for Microenterprises"

The Center for International Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel (MASHAV) in cooperation with the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) will provide 30 scholarships to qualified participants to be trained in "Support Systems for Microenterprises" at the Golda Meir International Center - Mount Carmel of Israel. The course will be held from September 1-15, 2009 in Haifa, Israel. ).

The requirements to apply for the scholarship are:

  • Be fluent in English.
  • Must not be older than 50 years old.
  • Have relevant qualifications in economics, business administration, regional planning, industrial management or related subjects; with a minimum of five years of work experience Be currently involved in: planning and elaboration of national or regional policies that support the creation of employment in rural areas and tourism planning.
  • Be part of governmental or nongovernmental institutions or other organizations involved in small business support and development, as well as women´s business associations, with a minimum experience of 5 years. Outstanding individual entrepreneurs could also apply.
  • Be committed in a long term basis to transmit the knowledge learned by functioning as a trainer in workshops as assigned by the YABT/OAS.
  • Preference will be given to candidates recommended by the YABT.

The scholarship granted by the YABT and the Government of Israel covers the cost of the course, study tours, printed materials, accommodation in a double occupancy room during the course and health insurance.

The Golda Meir International Training Center - Mount Carmel was established in 1961, and since then more than 13,500 persons from 148 countries have studied there.

YABT is a non-profit NGO that works in cooperation with the OAS. The organization seeks to promote and implement programmes for young entrepreneurs as a strategy to combat poverty and create employment.
