TIC Americas More than a Business Plan Competition...
TIC Americas is one of the latest projects that Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) is developing; it is more than a business plan competition due to the fact that it includes a stage that test the project feasibility in the real market. The TIC Americas it does not only includes awards, also offers benefits such as: training, mentoring, investment and business opportunities. It is targeted to young people with business talent, with entrepreneurial feeling, with business ideas and with triumphant desire.
After YABT’s representatives participated in the “2006 Global TIC Organizer Empowering Workshop” developed from August 22nd to 31st, 2006 in Taipei, Taiwan, they are continuing with the process of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas).
The TIC Americas has two main stages: on-site and on-line. The semifinals will be totally on-line through an incredible platform which will be launched at the beginning of October, 2006. The final will be in Panama during the first week of the month of June, 2007; the winners of the TIC Americas will have the opportunity of participating in the Global Competition that will be held in Taiwan.
The young competitors will have access to different on-line tools such as: Infobiz, IFC, SME Toolkit, My Own Business, MIT OWC (Open Ware Course) and others resources available to be used in each stage.
Since September 15th to October 14th of this year will start the sensitize process in which all of the coordinators will be in charge of presenting the TIC Americas to the Private Sector, Public, Academic and International Organizations.
The registration process will be on-line and it will initiate on October 15th until December 14th, 2006; since December 15th to January 14th, 2006 the participants have to present the project concept, which is the business idea. On January 15th, 2007 it will initiate the BOOT Camp (Business Opportunity Online Training).
This is an experience that will provide to young participants the visibility in the private sector, public and academic; entrepreneurial skills through a range of trainings and resources; new opportunities of business and incubation to initiate their enterprises.
The TIC Americas coordinators are from all over the region; people committed to the process of what will be the competition, among them:
Edgar Maestre, Coordinator of YABT Panama and Coordinator of the TIC Regional; Paola Anzola, President of YABT Mexico and Coordinator of Mexico; Jackson Morais, Program Officer of YABT Brazil and Coordinator of Brazil; Nichole Duncan, Coordinator of The Caribbean, Yeruti Mendez Coordinator of Mercosur and Valerie Lorena, Coordinator of North America, being them Program Managers of YABT. It is possible to emphasize that the General Coordinators will be Mr. Roy Thomasson, Chief Executive Officer of YABT; Luis Viguria, Program Director of YABT and Nahuel Velazquez, Program Manager of YABT.
