As
a preamble to the second edition of the Talent and Innovation Competition
of the Americas (TIC Americas) YABT in collaboration with EAFIT University
organized the Youth Summit on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which was
composed of 4 panels covering: 1. Initiatives of the OAS for the youth,
2. Entrepreneurship, 3. Corporate Social Responsibility and 4. Technology
and Innovation; in which the central theme was the youth, their leadership
and their capacity to create companies in Latin America as a strategy
to better their quality of life.

the opening of the program, the Mayor of Medellín, Mr. Alonso
Salazar Jaramillo, spoke about how important it is that the city has
an event of this type; one of the central themes of their administration
is the theme of entrepreneurship, with programs like Medellín
Digital. "All of the youth of Medellín that have projects
of entrepreneurship that permit them to better their quality of life
should have the support of my administration", he added. |

The Secretary
General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza, declared: "In Latin
America one of every four young people doesn't study or work and so this
assembly is a method to achieve justice and equality of opportunity".
"The OAS has obligations in this field, we must look to encourage
entrepreneurship", he added.
Additionally,
the Permanent Representative of Colombia to the OAS, Ambassador Camilo
Ospina, announced the creation of what will be the Block of Entrepreneurship.
"All of the youth that have entrepreneurship projects will be able
to turn to this new project that will get a 25 million dollar fund in
a year", he affirmed.
The Representative
of Agora Partnerships, Mr. Ricardo Terán, affirmed: "The education
on investment and managerial support to entrepreneurs is the foundation
in the fight against poverty".
The event
was held in the EAFIT University, which was launched by the Secretary
General of the OAS, H.E. José Miguel Insulza; the Ambassador of
Colombia to the OAS, H.E. Camilo Ospina; the Mayor of Medellín,
Mr. Alonso Salazar Jaramillo; the General Director of the Servicio Nacional
de Aprendizaje (SENA), Mr. Darío Montoya and the Rector of the
EAFIT University, Mr. Manuel Esteban Acevedo.
