YABT Representatives Receive Training in Israel

Twenty-seven persons from 14 countries in the Americas have successfully completed an international course on Microenterprise Support Systems conducted by the Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center in cooperation with the Young Americas Business Trust.  The course took place in Haifa, Israel.

Participants were selected through the YABT network as well as the communication network of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Center for International Cooperation (MASHAV).  In Latin America, members of the YABT team, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Jerusalem, joined the initiative that sought to instruct them to train young entrepreneurs of the Americas.

"While we are a small group of participants form the Americas, we will reflect our expertise upon hundreds of thousands of young people through YABT national chapters and Business Labs, allowing them to acquire skills in microenterprise development," said Valerie Lorena, YABT Program Manager, regarding the objective of the trip.

During the course, participants shared their professional experiences and knowledge.  It was recommended that they present material and relevant data on the subject from each of their countries in order to examine the international business context.  The YABT team was able to showcase the experiences of Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay.

"We believe that the courses at the Golda Meir MCTC are a great opportunity to acquire knowledge and the latest information thanks to the quality of teachers and the teaching methodology used.  Here, we can relate to highly skilled people with vast knowledge and experience in microenterprise development, so we hope this trip has been a great investment," said Valerie Lorena.

In this sense, Carlos Guedes, Brazil's representative, said the most attractive aspect of the workshop was "the teaching methodology of combining theory with practice, with teachers, experts, and business professionals committed to practical results.  This is MCTC'.
