People from all walks of life including former drug dealers, grandparents, and at-risk youth will be united to take part in the East of the River Entrepreneurship-Training Workshop & Competition. Are You an Entrepreneur, LLC, is hosting a dynamic two-day workshop. The intent is to expose individuals who generally do not have the resources or opportunity to ascertain the expertise needed to succeed in entrepreneurship AND IN LIFE!
This initiative is supported by Ward 8 Councilmember and former Mayor Marion Barry and At-Large Councilmember Kwame Brown. Both Councilmen have been invited to make an appearance at the entrepreneurship training workshop and competition. The Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative and The Young Americas Business Trust also support the initiative that brings entrepreneurial training to D.C. residents in Wards 7 & 8.
The 2-day workshop will consist of entrepreneurship training in which participants will be able to apply what they’ve learned in a business competition. The competition will be held two weeks after participants have polished their newly acquired skills. The contestant that generates the most revenue in sales will be declared champion and receive the grand prize of a $3500 business start-up grant.
