Manizales, Colombia Hosts YABT Business Training Workshop
From October 26 to 30, thirty-four participants from the Department of Caldas, Colombia were trained at a workshop on business management. The workshop was organized by Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) and the Organization of American States (OAS), in cooperation with the Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center (MCTC) of Israel, la Gobernaciónde Caldas, la Cámara de Comercio de Manizales y el Sistema de Gestión e Información de Cooperación Internacional del Departamento de Caldas.
The training was facilitated by Guillermo Levinton and Rina Fainstein, specialists of the Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center (MCTC). The workshop is part of Nex Links : a regional YABT program for the development of entrepreneurship support systems, executed by YABT and financed by the Special Multilateral Fund of Inter-American Council for Integral Development (FEMCIDI) of OAS.
Using a “learning by doing” methodology, participants acquired the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to manage the development of a business and to support entrepreneurs in the creation and acceleration of business. At the end of workshop, a business exhibition was held, where participants had a chance to showcase their products and services developed during the workshop.
“The workshop on Business Management definitely made a significant impact for participants. Now they have a different vision thanks to a methodology that puts more emphasis on the actual creation of a business; creating an enterprise is not difficult, it’s easy. What you need to do is to have clear goals and be persistent with those goals,” mentioned John Alejandro Londoño Medina, a workshop participant, from the Municipality of Anserma.
James Lemus, coming from the Municipality of Marmato, indicated “the biggest motivation for me to participate in the workshop was the experiences and insights of instructors from MCTC of Israel. They helped us in improving business administration and the work that will be realized in our organization, la Asociación Joyeros de Marmato”.
After the workshop, the trainees are expected to transfer the learned lessons to others in their municipalities, replicating the knowledge to promote an entrepreneurial culture and fortify entrepreneurial networks in the region. This will also allow more beneficiaries to follow up on individual activities with Young Americas Business Trust (YABT).
The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) is an international not-for-profit organization, working in cooperation with the Organization of American States (OAS). The organization promotes the development of young entrepreneurs in the Americas through programs and projects in the areas of leadership and networking, training, technology and strategic alliances.
