Washington D.C. - January 27, 2010 - In February 2010, the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) will organize two capacity building workshops in Mexico City and Tabasco, Mexico within the framework of the Nex Links program. The Nex Links: Young Entrepreneurs’ Follow –up Networks, is a program focused on the creation of mechanisms and tools to support young entrepreneurs in the start-up and scale up phases of their business creation.

In Mexico City, from February 8 to 12, YABT in collaboration with the Professional Mothers National Institute (INAMAP) will organize a workshop that aims to empower mothers in generation their own employment source. The workshop will train 35 participants including the INAMP instructors, professional mothers, and community leaders in order for them to share their knowledge exerting the same model of business labs in their community.
The workshop provides the participants with the tools and means for them to design, conduct and institutionalize business education and develop programs in their respective communities. The final goal of the workshop is to empower mothers to generate their own employment sources by developing a business, in turn to contribute to the economic development in the region.
On February 15 to 19, in Villahermosa, Tabasco, a second workshop on “Creation of Small Business Development Centers’ (SBDC’s)” will be held. The objective of workshop is to improve the networks and follow up services for young people to establish sustainable businesses.
The workshop trains participants on how to develop and establish an SBDC, ways to access to and make the most out of the resources and tools the center offers, such as business information, trainings, technologies, consultant services, networks and a possible source of financing. The workshop also covers topics such as the definition of SBDC, its objectives, functions, its users, its environment, localization, its management structure, among others.
The SBDC workshop targets professors, instructors, social leaders, and young entrepreneurs with strong commitment on sharing their knowledge and learned lessons with the community for social development. Participants of this workshop are required to have basic knowledge and prior understanding about business management, entrepreneurship and/or related experience in education.
The workshops will be conducted by international training specialist, Rina Fainstein and Salomon Vilensky from the International Training Center Golda Meir-Monte Carmel (MCTC) from Israel.
The Nex Links program is possible thanks to the support of the Special Multilateral Fund of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (FEMCIDI) of the Organization of American States, the Center for International Cooperation of the Government of Israel (MASHAV) and the Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center (MCTC).
