The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) will host a Business Labs workshop for trainers in Colombia as an effort to provide young entrepreneurs with skills that will enable them to expand the business training to other communities of the region
The workshop will be conducted between the 21st and 26th of September 2009, in the facilities of the Hogar Juvenil Campesino del Municipio de Pueblorrico (Antioquia) in Colombia, and a maximum of 27 Professors and community leaders will be trained. The participants must be committed to helping socially vulnerable communities through business actions
The Business Labs methodology teaches practical business skills through "hands-on" experience to encourage the creation and sustainability of new businesses. The workshop aims to generate a great impact on the young people of Pueblorrico and the surrounding districts. In addition to that, once the course has ended the participants must continue transmitting the methodology acquired in each of their communities.
The workshop was organized by the YABT in coordination with the Secretary of Education (Núcleo Educativo) and the Municipality of Pueblorrico. It also has the support of local organizations like YABT Colombia - Grupo Empresarial Juda, the Universidad de Antioquia through the Parque del Emprendimiento and the Israeli embassy in Colombia
The workshop is part of the Nex Links program, a project that is executed by the YABT and financed by the Special Multilateral Fund of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (FEMCIDI). It was created by the YABT in cooperation with the OAS and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Israel (MASHAV). The Business Labs have been conducted in 29 of the 34 member countries of the OAS and thousands of young people have been trained through this methodology.
The YABT is a nonprofit international organization that works in cooperation with the Organization of the American States (OAS) to promote the development of young entrepreneurs through its programs and projects in the areas of Leadership and Networking, Training, Technology and Strategic Alliances. YABT relies on financial contributions and technical cooperation from both the public and private sectors to support its international programs and to offer national training and related services.
