Urgent Appeal for Haiti and Chile

YABT offers business training opportunities in Nicaragua and Guatemala

The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) through the Nex Links project is organizing two workshops to provide young entrepreneurs with business skills that will enable them to start their own business.

Guatemala



The workshop "Young Entrepreneurship in Business" will be delivered in Spanish and will take place in Guatemala city from July 6th to the 10th of 2009. The workshop is a coordinated activity of the YABT and the Mount Carmel International Training Center of Israel, and local organizations such as Vital Voices Guatemala and Organizacion Kab´awil.

The purpose of the course is to strengthen the development of young Guatemalan Indigenous through the training in business and entrepreneurship. Thirty Guatemalan Indigenous -mostly women- will participate in the workshop, which will taught important subjects such as business management, basic concepts in the creation of a small business, access to national and international markets, and the use of information technologies, among others.

Nicaragua

The workshop "Training for female entrepreneurs in the creation of Small Businesses Development Centers (SBDC)", will be facilitated in Spanish and held in Managua, Nicaragua, from July 13th to the 17th of 2009. Thirty young Nicaraguan women will participate in the workshop, all young entrepreneurs, community leaders, and directors of organizations that work with young people.

The initiative is a coordinated activity of the YABT, the Mount Carmel International Training Center of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, and local organizations such as the Asociacion Emprendedores Juveniles de Nicaragua, ascribed to the Instituto Nicaragüense de Desarrollo (INDE).

The purpose of the course is to provide young Nicaraguan entrepreneurs with a business knowledge that allows them to grow in their entrepreneurships by identifying and establishing strategies to penetrate new markets. Some of the main subjects that will be taught are strategic analysis of Marketing; financial management (cost calculation, sources of financing); business organization, and negotiation techniques (leadership).

Who we are and what we do

Nex Links is a one-stop shop that serves as a focal point for learning and networking. It is aimed to improve the level and consistency of follow-up services to young entrepreneurs.

The Nex Links Project focus in young people age 15 to 35 that are unemployed or underemployed but have a viable business idea or have a start in business but need additional follow-up services and resources to improve its sustainability. The project is executed by the YABT and financed by the Special Multilateral Fund of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (FEMCIDI) of the Organization of the American States (OAS).

The YABT is a nonprofit international organization that works in cooperation with the OAS in order to promote the development of young entrepreneurs through its programs and projects in the areas of Leadership and Networking, Training, Technology and Strategic Alliances. YABT relies on financial contributions and technical cooperation from both the public and private sectors to support its international programs and to offer national training and related services.
