YABT Panama Announces Second Edition of the Student Science Fair

The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) and the Ministry of Education of Panama (MEDUCA), in collaboration with the Latin University of Panama and the School, Family and Community Foundation, are pleased to announce the second edition of the Student Science Fair "Youth, Science and Development", to be held on October 22 and 23 at the American University in Panama City.

The Science Fair aims to promote among students the use of scientific knowledge to solve society's problems through ingenuity, creativity, innovation and teamwork. It also seeks to stimulate the entrepreneurial attitude of students to become business leaders with social responsibility, thereby generating jobs, transferring technology and contributing to the sustainable development of Panama and the Americas.

The Science Fair is aimed at students in the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades of public and private schools. In addition, students of above-average academic achievement can attend as specially invited teams. Students will compete in three categories: Science, Innovation and Development; Information Technology and Communications (TIC's); and Environment and Global Warming. In addition, two special awards will be given: Best Booth and Best Invited Team.

A conference on scientific entrepreneurial leadership will also take place under the framework of the Science Fair, brining together distinguished panelists from national and international organizations for panels on scientific undertakings and education. This activity will take place on October 21 and will be broadcast via the American University's videoconferencing system, simultaneously connecting Panama City with Santiago, David and Chitré, so that young people in these cities and surrounding districts can participate and benefit from the knowledge and experience that the conference will provide. The conference will also air at the international level via the Latin University's streaming system at www.ulat.ac.pa.

The YABT and MEDUCA invite young people and teachers from various public and private schools to sign up for the Science Fair, and it also invites organizations from various sectors to participate as strategic partners and to support the entrepreneurial talents of young scientists.
