The Young Entrepreneurs Association of Jamaica was launched
On January 25th, 2006 the Young Entrepreneurs Association (YEA) was launched by the Jamaica Employers’ Federation (JEF), which will be part of Young Americas Busienss Trust’s Network, affiliated to the Private Sector of the American States Organization (OAS).
YABT will work with YEA in order to provide opportunities to find business connections, participation in training events, conferences, videoconferences and dialogue about Business and Social Responsibility.
YABT connects young entrepreneurs from the member states of the OAS, with the objective to create enterprises and opportunities for young people through entrepreneurial projects. It is important to know that YABT is affiliated to National Organizations totaling about 100,000 young entrepreneurs and the organization has a special focus on linking entrepreneurs through events and technology so they can do business and learn from each other.
During the event, the Executive Director of YABT, Mr. Thomasson stated, “Launching this Young Entrepreneurs Association shows the vision of the Jamaica Employers Federation and the Prime Minister, PJ Patterson in recognizing the tremendous potential contributions that young entrepreneurs can make to the future of the country, helping to build a Jamaica that draws on the energy and talents of its young population to thrive in the world economy. The OAS in Jamaica has been a strong supporter of youth initiatives and we look forward to working with the JEF.”
